Canting

Canting is a small pen-like tool made of copper with bamboo holder. It holds the liquid made of a mixture of wax and ink, and the artist then use this to paint the Batik pattern. Before plastic household utensils are common, Canting made of coconut shells can also be used as a scoop. Today these coconut shell Canting is hard to find since they are replaced by plastic. Most recent development in the industry is Canting made of Teflon.
